6-10 PhD Positions in Faculty of Information Technology at The University of Jyväskylä, Finland

The Faculty of Information Technology is currently seeking for 6-10 Doctoral Student positions beginning January 4, 2021, or as agreed. The maximum length of the employment contract is three years.

The Doctoral SchooI in the Faculty of Information Technology offers doctoral education in Information Systems (Ph.D. or D.Sc.), Software and Communications Engineering (Ph.D.), Computational Science (Ph.D.), Learning Science (Ph.D.), and Cognitive Science (Ph.D.). The doctoral school regularly provides funding for doctoral students. This application round is mainly focused on students who have already started their postgraduate studies and are expected to finish their studies within four years from the beginning of their postgraduate study right. The contract can be part-time or full-time.

The doctoral students will work in the research groups of the Faculty of Information Technology to study abroad. The research group must be indicated in the online application form. The tasks of the Doctoral Students focus on the research concerning doctoral thesis, doctoral studies, assisting teaching tasks, and other tasks related to these.

The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of Doctoral Student are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines.

The eligible candidate for the Doctoral Student position to study abroad should have a master’s degree and the right for postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Information Technology, University of Jyväskylä. Good command of English is required.

Applications are evaluated and prioritized first by research areas and then by the board of the doctoral school. Decisions will be made within a month from the application deadline.

The salary of a Doctoral Student will be determined in accordance with the Finnish University Salary System.

A trial period of six months will be applied when the position is first filled.

  2. Research plan (including the title, publications, publication plan, and timetable)
  3. The application letter (motivation to work on the research topic, at the Faculty, and how the dissertation work is connected to the work of the research group)
  4. Study plan (including the total number of credits required, completed and planned studied, with timetable)
  5. Recommendation letters from the supervisors (not included in the electronic application, please request your supervisor(s) to send the letter(s) to doctoral-studies-it@jyu.fi, within one week from the application deadline)
