The School of Veterinary Science at The University of Queensland invites applications for Primary Care Veterinarians at our Gatton based Hospital – UQ VETS. The UQ Gatton campus is located in sunny South East Queensland, approximately 1-hour drive from the capital city of Brisbane and within a short drive of the world-renowned Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Scenic Rim Hinterland regions.A little about us, UQ VETS includes the Small Animal, Equine Specialist and Production Animal Hospitals, has a solid, diverse clinical caseload, and an exceptional multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, clinical specialists and educators all here for our valued Veterinary Science and Veterinary Technology students and each other.Come and join the growing Small Animal Primary Care team in a modern purpose-built hospital situated in one of Queensland’s fastest growing regional population centres. The Small Animal Primary Care team is a 24 hour, 7 days a week service, catering for all small animals including avian and exotic species. UQ VETS prides itself on our collegial, progressive and relationship centric culture. Our hospital is well equipped to offer advanced diagnostics with ultrasound, endoscopy, a 160 slice CT, digital radiology, fluoroscopy and dental radiology, as well as on-site Veterinary Laboratory Services.

About This Opportunity

The appointee will participate in the management of cases presenting to the primary care service, which includes both routine and urgent or emergency cases. The appointee will primarily contribute to the afterhours and weekend roster through the primary care service. In addition to ensuring excellence in clinical care, the position requires active participation in the clinical teaching and instruction of undergraduate veterinary science and veterinary technology students, as well as clinical training and mentoring of small animal interns and junior clinicians. The primary care team work closely with specialists and other experienced clinicians, across a range of disciplines, allowing us to offer our patients and clients an exceptional standard of care and expertise.Why work for UQ VETS?

This is a casual role at the HEW 8 Level.
