Associate or Full Professor- Head of the Division of Plastic Surgery

The Sprott Department of Surgery at University Health Network (UHN) is conducting a search for the Head of its Division of Plastic Surgery. This appointment is for a five-year term, renewable once, following a successful review. This is a full-time faculty position at the level of Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Surgery in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and will be based at University Health Network. The effective date of this appointment is flexible; however, we plan to have this position filled in the fall of 2021.
The Division currently has active resident and fellowship programs. The Division Head is responsible for the overall academic program including teaching and research, and plays a central coordinating role in clinical care and recruitment. Financial management and assuring quality of care in the division are important aspects of this position.
Qualifications include MD with specialist certification in plastic and reconstructive surgery. Candidates must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate must have an established record of scholarly achievement and possess strong leadership skills encompassing integrative thinking and managerial skills and emotional and political intelligence evidenced by a strong track record. Leadership training is an asset; however, not a mandatory requirement.
Compensation is primarily fee for service and is expected in the range of $500,000 – $600,000 CDN. Additional compensation may be provided commensurate with qualifications and experience.
University Health Network is comprised of the Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute and the Michener Institute of Education. UHN is an academic institution affiliated with the University of Toronto and is recognized internationally for excellence in patient care, research, innovation and education with strong values of safety, compassion, teamwork, integrity and stewardship. The Division of Plastic Surgery is comprised of 10 full-time faculty members who actively participate in multiple UHN programs performing either reconstructive oncologic (micro)surgery or hand surgery. The practice also includes facial reanimation, lymphatic surgery, transplantation and general plastic surgery. The Head of the Division of Plastic surgery is responsible for overseeing care delivery, growth and advancement of all of the Plastic Surgery Division.
