About the role

Joining the Leicester Real World Evidence team at the Diabetes Research Centre (DRC) you will undertake statistical and epidemiological research using real-world data from classical observational studies and from electronic health records (e.g. UK Biobank, the Clinical Practice Research Datalink, and Hospital Episodes Statistics). You will support and undertake statistical analysis for cardiometabolic research, evaluate study protocols for feasibility, and take a lead on writing research papers. For the grade 8 post there will be additional opportunities to supervise PhD students and lead on grant applications.

The DRC is internationally recognised for its research in diabetes and cardiovascular disease and the advertised posts provide excellent opportunities for ambitious statisticians to develop a strong career in epidemiology and cardio-metabolic medicine. The DRC has a team of over 140 multi-disciplinary research staff and hosts and leads a number of exciting programmes and NIHR infrastructure awards including: NIHR Biomedical Research Centre, Applied Research and Care East Midlands, the Leicester Real World Evidence Unit, and the East Midlands Centre for Black and Minority Ethnic Health.About you

With a PhD in a relevant area (e.g. medical statistics, epidemiology, biostatistics) or an MSc and equivalent experience, you will have an understanding of survival analysis and other methodologies commonly used in applied health research. Good knowledge of statistical programming and data management (e.g using Stata/R) is essential, and experience of working with large datasets or electronic health records would be beneficial. An understanding of pharmaco-epidemiology and/or pragmatic trials would be of benefit for this role but is not essential.

For the Grade 8 position a PhD is essential, and we additionally require candidates to have relevant post-doctoral research experience and a high quality publication profile.Additional information
