Lecturer or Assistant / Associate / Full Professor – Academic Medical Oncologist

The Departments of Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital and University of Toronto are seeking a qualified full-time academic medical oncologist. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The expected start date of the position is December 1, 2021, or shortly thereafter.
This position will support the current in- and out-patient demands in medical oncology in addition to supporting St. Michael’s Hematology/Oncology Clinical Research Group (HOCRG). As well, the candidate will help lead the development of new innovative models of care, such as collaborative oncology care and clinical trials. The candidate will have expertise in gastrointestinal and/or breast malignancies, and a proven academic record of excellence in clinical research, quality improvement or education within at least one of these areas.
The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Medical Oncology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canadaand licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). Preferably, the successful candidate will also have or be working towards a graduate degree relevant to their area of specialization. The successful candidate will participate in the educational programs in Medical Oncology at St. Michael’s Hospital and the University of Toronto and collaborate in clinical research and quality improvement programs. The successful candidate should be an effective teacher with demonstrated achievement in teaching and education. Teaching accomplishments include the presence of a strong track record of interests and excellence in resident and fellow education, formal training in teaching methodology, leadership as a clinical teacher and other relevant experience. Advanced training in quality and evidence of scholarship is the minimum requirement for a quality improvement job description. Academic excellence in research will also be considered. Research accomplishments include peer-reviewed publications and grants, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades.
The successful candidate will report to the Head, Division of Hematology/Oncology at St. Michael’s Hospital. The Division currently consists of 10 full time hematologists and oncologists, has an international reputation in clinical research, education and quality improvement, and busy in- and out-patient services.
Estimated remuneration will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience, in addition to a COMET AFP (Community Oncologists of Metropolitan Toronto Alternate Funding Plan) funded position.
