The Oral Health Centre (OHC) opened in January 2015. This award winning building is the largest and best equipped facility for patient treatment, dental education and research in Australasia.
From January 2017, the Oral Health Alliance (OHA) integrated the activities of Metro North Hospital and Health Service Oral Health Services (MNHHS) and the UQ School of Dentistry to establish world-class activities in clinical teaching, research and service provision in oral health.
About This Opportunity
A Postdoctoral Research Fellow will focus their efforts on developing their expertise and emerging research profile in the field of oral epidemiology and dental public health. At this level it is expected that the incumbent will contribute to service and engagement roles and activities.
As a research focused academic at level A the incumbent will be supported and guided by more senior academic research staff with the expectation of an increasing degree of autonomy over time.
This position is located at our Herston Campus, UQ’s core campus for clinical health teaching and research. Sharing premises with royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the QIMR Berghofer Medical research Institute, the campus houses a vibrant clinical and research community that delivers innovative and contemporary research and education programs in a clinical academic environment. Conveniently located just minutes from Brisbane’s city centre, there is access to multiple public transport connections, onsite parking and cycling facilities.

Our Ideal Candidate
To be successful in the position, you will have completed (or near completion of) a PhD in oral epidemiology, dental public health, or a related field. You will have an emerging profile in research in the aforementioned areas of dentistry. You possess experience publishing in reputable refereed journals and presenting at conferences. You have contributed to successfully obtaining and managing external research funding. Some supervision experience is required (i.e. supervising postgraduate students). An ability to establish effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. university community, industry, government, and professional bodies) is an essential part of the role. The ability to perform in-depth and critical data analyses and data modelling is imperative.
It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

What We Can Offer
This is a full-time fixed term (three years) position at Academic Level A.
The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $70,729.75 – $94,637.91, plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $82,753.81 – $110,726.35.
