The Max Planck Institute for Brain Research (MPI for Brain Research) in Frankfurt/Main is a vibrant research institution in the field of basic biological and medical research, with a focus on understanding the functions of the brain’s circuits. Our institute has approx. 300 employees in three research departments and four research groups, as well as several service units.
The Laurent Department investigates brain circuits in animal models, such as turtles, lizards and cephalopods, to identify evolutionarily conserved principles of brain function. We are looking for a Research student assistant (m/f/d) to join our group for six months or longer.
Your responsibilities:
You will support the ongoing cephalopod project, involving neural-network-based techniques to study the development of the chromatophores control system in Euprymna berryi. The main tasks will include
- Coding
- Image processing
- Data analysis
Your profile:
- Currently enrolled for a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in the field Mathematics, Neuroscience, Computer Science, Physics, Bio-Technology or Bio-Informatics
- Experience with coding (especially Python)
- Good communication skills and good knowledge of English
- Ability to work 20 hours per week
