Short Stay Visiting Expert Grants – Belgium

Applications are invited for Fully funded Short-Stay Visiting Expert Grants at The Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven), Belgium.

Details

The mobility of researchers is an important condition for the exchange of knowledge and innovative research. Because of this, KU Leuven supports the incoming mobility of academics from established and future partners in the South, to work on topics related to global development. Grants can be awarded for the following activities:

  • Take part in a prospective discussion or prepare a new academic or research cooperation with KU Leuven
  • Follow up a new or an existing cooperation project with KU Leuven
  • Do (short-term) joint research at KU Leuven
  • Give guidance to a PhD student of KU Leuven, for instance as a member of a PhD examination committee
  • Give guest lectures at KU Leuven
  • Attend seminars, Conferences and other academic activities at KU Leuven

Benefits

Successful grants applicants will receive the following benefits:

  • A return flight ticket in economy class (based on invoice)
  • Visa costs and other travel-related expenses (based on invoice)
  • Accommodation (based on invoice) with an indicative maximum of € 100 per night
  • A per diem of € 75 per night (for a maximum stay of 5 days, or longer in case of co-financing with the inviting faculty)

Eligible countries

Applicants for the grant should be citizen of the following countries:

Africa: Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Guinea, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zimbabwe 

Asia: Cambodia, Indonesia, Palestinian regions, Philippines, Vietnam 

Latin America: Bolivia, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, Nicaragua, Peru, Suriname

Eligibility

To be eligible for Fully funded Short-Stay Visiting Expert Grants, an applicant must:

  • be appointed professors and postdoctoral researchers from one of the following countries
  • be provided with an invitation from a KU Leuven Professor

Application

Applicants for Fully funded Short-Stay Visiting Expert Grants at The Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KU Leuven) are required to submit the following documents with Online Application:

  • a signed invitation from a KU Leuven Professor
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Copy of passport
  • A copy of your doctoral degree certificate

The selection takes place once a month
